Weather Forecast May 2: Extremely Severe Cyclone Fani to bring very heavy rains in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, sea conditions to be very rough

At present, the extremely severe cyclone Fani is seen over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Odisha Coast. Therefore, we expect heavy to very heavy rains over north coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh and South Coastal Odisha. Isolated places may even witness extremely heavy rains. Sea conditions will be rough to very rough. Strong winds of 100 to 150 kmph gusting up 180 kmph are possible.

Remaining parts of Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal will also witness light rains with few moderate spells. Rains over the northeastern states will reduce to some extent. But light to moderate rains will continue over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Northeast India.

Rains in South India will reduce. However, scattered rains are expected over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Karnataka, Interior Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Weather of Telangana and Rayalaseema will remain cloudy with chances of light rain in few parts.

Heat wave conditions will abate from most parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. But isolated pockets of Vidarbha may still observe heat wave. Weather will remain dry over central India. Isolated rains may occur in Chhattisgarh.

In North India the Western Disturbance over East Jammu and Kashmir will give scattered rains over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Isolated rain and thunderstorm may also occur over the foothills of Uttar Pradesh and northern districts of Punjab and Haryana. Weather in Delhi and Rajasthan will remain dry and hot.
