Weather Forecast March 17: Varanasi, Mirzapur, Gaya, Kolkata to witness rain; strong winds likely

The feeble Western Disturbance as an upper air trough lies over North Pakistan and adjoining parts of Jammu and Kashmir. This system would give light rain and thundershowers with snowfall over isolated places. Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Srinagar, Kullu, Manali, Shimla, Kedarnath, Nainital and Chamoli would be a sight to these weather activities. Cloudy sky conditions with dry weather in offing would continue over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

A Cyclonic Circulation is over Vidarbha and adjoining parts of Chhattisgarh. An upper air trough is extending from this system till Karnataka. Hence, resulting in light rain and thundershower activities with strong winds over Nagpur, Gondia, Sidhi, Rewa, Satna and Jabalpur.

Moderate to heavy rain and thundershower associated with strong winds over northern parts of Chhattisgarh and southern parts of Jharkhand would be seen. Places like Ambikapur, Korea, Pendra Road, Bilaspur would be witnessing thundershowers along with hailstorms. Rest of the region remain dry.

In East India, an upper air trough is extending from Jharkhand to Vidarbha. Simultaneously, wind confluence zone is also affecting Jharkhand and adjoining region. Hence, southern parts of Jharkhand at many places and adjoining parts of West Bengal would be affected with moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers with strong winds.

Whereas, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Gaya, Aurangabad, Kolkata, East Midnapore, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda would get to witness light rain and thundershowers with strong winds in offing.

While in Northeast India, a Cyclonic Circulation is over southern parts of Assam and adjoining parts of Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram. Due to the presence of this system, light rain and thundershower with strong winds would affect some places of the northeastern states.

Down South, due to prevalence of dry air mass, the dry weather would continue over southern states. Hence, very warm to hot weather would continue over Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and northern parts of Kerala. However, isolated places of Kerala might witness light rains. Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad would have to bear the brunt of hot weather.
