June 28, 2019 7:25 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of north Arabian Sea, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) passes through Dwarka, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Pendra, Sultanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, and Mukteshwar. Mumbai Monsoon started on a weak note but now it has picked up pace. Traffic has been crawling since the rains have increased with time. At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is over South Rajasthan and adjoining Southwest Madhya Pradesh. Also, the off-shore trough continues to run along Konkan and Goa. Thus, moderate to heavy rains will be seen in Mumbai, Surat, Valsad, Navsari along with other parts of Konkan and Goa. While, light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells might occur over Madhya Maharashtra including Pune and isolated showers over Vidarbha and Marathwada. The southern districts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh might also receive few good spells of rain.

After witnessing heavy rains in different parts of Northeast India, rain intensity is now expected to decrease. This would be on account of Cyclonic Circulation likely to form over the Northwest Bay of Bengal which would restrict the flow of humid winds over Northeast India. However, Cyclonic Circulation over south Assam would give light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells over the Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and West Assam. Remaining Northeast India will get to see light to moderate rains only, while scattered rains are possible over South Coastal Odisha. However, rains will remain subdued over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal.

Just light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells might occur over the North Coastal Karnataka and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. While, scattered rains are possible over Telangana including Hyderabad and North Interior Karnataka as well. Andaman and Nicobar Islands may witness good rains.

Whereas, weather would be dry over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka including Bengaluru.
Finally, up in the North, the absence of any weather system will lead to dry weather over the Northwest Plains of the country. Here, the temperatures will be above normal by a couple of degrees. The national territory, Delhi would cross the temperature beyond 40 degrees again. While, isolated light rain might occur over Jammu and Kashmir.
