Beginning with Mumbai Monsoon, the city has been longing for heavy rains for quite some time. We now expect Monsoon to revive and heavy Mumbai rains to finally make an appearance for the next 48 hours. The cyclonic circulation is seen over East central Arabian Sea off South Maharashtra Coast has activated the offshore trough along the West Coast. Therefore, we expect moderate to heavy rain over Konkan & Goa. Light to moderate rains are possible over Gujarat, and Madhya Maharashtra. Rains would also be reaching West Madhya Pradesh, South Chhattisgarh and Southeast Rajasthan.
However, northern parts of Kerala and Coastal Karnataka may witness light to moderate rains. On the other side of the coast, a cyclonic circulation is seen over west central Bay of Bengal, that may bring few short spells of intense rains over North Costal Andhra Pradesh. Scattered light rains will occur over North Interior Karnataka and Telangana.

Moving to East/Northeast India, the trough extending from Bihar to Nagaland across parts of West Bengal and Assam has kept the Monsoon vigorous. We can expect heavy to very heavy Monsoon rains to continue over Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, that even trigger flash flooding. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and rest northeastern states will also observe light to moderate rains with heavy spells. However, only isolated light rains may will be seen in Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, East Jharkhand and Bihar.
Up in North India, dry northwesterly winds will once again commence over Northwest India. Therefore, weather in Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and most parts of Rajasthan will remain dry and hot. But isolated thundery activities may occur in few parts of Punjab and Rajasthan. In fact, the northern hills may witness light rainfall activity too.
