Weather Forecast June 22: Heavy rain in Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Northeast India, Sikkim

Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of south Madhya Maharashtra, most parts of Karnataka, remaining parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, entire Andhra Pradesh, most parts of Telangana, some parts of south Chhattisgarh & Odisha, remaining parts of Bay of Bengal, most parts of West Bengal and some parts of Jharkhand and Bihar.

A Low-Pressure Area is over South Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas. A trough is extending from this system up to South India. Therefore, we expect light to moderate rain and thundershowers over Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha. Intensity of rains will now increase over Marathwada and we expect moderate to heavy spells. Rest Maharashtra will also receive scattered light to moderate rains, but weather of Mumbai will be almost dry with isolated light rains. Light rains are also possible over eastern and southern parts of Madhya Pradesh. Weather of Gujarat will be dry.

In South India, an offshore trough is running along the West Coast. Thus, moderate to heavy rains are possible over Coastal Karnataka as well as parts of North Interior Karnataka. Light to moderate rains will occur over Kerala, South Interior Karnataka and parts of Andhra Pradesh. Scattered rains are possible in Tamil Nadu.

Moving to East/Northeast India, a cyclonic circulation lies over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining northeastern states. Thus, good rains with isolated heavy spells will occur over the northeastern states, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Light to moderate rains will occur over Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh and Gangetic West Bengal.

A fresh Western Disturbance is over North Pakistan and its induced cyclonic circulation lies over Central Pakistan. Therefore, light rains will occur over Jammu and Kashmir and isolated rains in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and parts of Punjab. Weather of Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh will remain dry and hot.
