June 9, 2019 7:24 PM |

Southwest Monsoon 2019 finally marked its onset over Kerala during the last 24 hours after a delay of almost one week. Now, conditions are also becoming favourable for the advancement of Southwest Monsoon into parts of Northeast India during the next 48 hours. Monsoon would remain active and give fairly widespread moderate to heavy rain and thundershower activities over parts of Kerala.

In South India, a well-marked low-pressure area lies over Southeast and adjoining parts of East central Arabian Sea. This system would be intensifying into a depression and moving in north/northwest direction. Along with this an offshore trough is extending from Maharashtra Coast to Kerala Coast. Due to these systems, moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers will occur over Coastal Karnataka, Goa and South Maharashtra Coast. Parts of Tamil Nadu, rest of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will also witness rains.

Light to moderate rain and thundershowers will occur in South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. Isolated places of North Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha will also witness rains.
Due to prevalence of northwesterly dry and hot winds, hot weather conditions with heat wave will occur in parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh. Isolated places in South Chhattisgarh will receive rain and thundershowers.
