Weather Forecast July 12: Very heavy rains likely over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

East and Northeast India, a Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area is present over East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar. Also, a Trough is extending from Nagaland across West Bengal and Meghalaya. Thus, heavy to very heavy rains are expected over eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh as well as over many parts of Bihar. Parts of Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh may also receive heavy to very heavy rains. Light to moderate rains will continue over rest Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, East Jharkhand and parts of Odisha. Kolkata may also receive light rains.

Northwest India, a Cyclonic Circulation is over Central Pakistan and a Trough is extending across North Punjab, Uttarakhand and foothills of Uttar Pradesh. Thus, light to moderate rains are expected over Jammu and Kashmir and a few heavy spells are possible over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Heavy to very heavy rains will continue over Northwest Uttar Pradesh. Scattered rains are possible over Southwest Uttar Pradesh. Weather over Rajasthan, Delhi, South Haryana and South Punjab will however remain dry.

Central India, rains will reduce further over Madhya Pradesh however scattered rains may continue over East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and parts of Vidarbha. Rain intensity will decrease over Mumbai and adjoining areas. However, moderate spells are possible over South Konkan and Goa. Light rains are likely over Madhya Maharashtra. Gujarat and West Madhya Pradesh will remain dry.

South India, an off-shore Trough is extending from Coastal Karnataka to Kerala. Another one is over Southwest Bay of Bengal. Thus, light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells are likely over coastal Karnataka and North Kerala. Scattered light rains are possible over Interior Karnataka, parts of Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
