Weather Forecast Jan 7: Heavy rains likely in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, light rain in Chennai

Starting with North India, a Western Disturbance is over Jammu and Kashmir. Its induced Cyclonic Circulation is over Central Pakistan and adjoining areas. Fairly widespread rain and snow is expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. One or two heavy to very heavy spells are also possible. Rains are likely over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan and Northwest Uttar Pradesh. Minimum temperatures may increase further, but day temperatures will drop in many parts.

Coming to Central India, where scattered rains and thundershowers are expected to commence over East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha. Chances of hailstorm cannot be ruled out. Weather of South Rajasthan, Mumbai and Gujarat will remain dry. Isolated thundery activities are possible over rest Maharashtra.

Talking about East India, where isolated light rain may occur over East Uttar Pradesh, parts of Jharkhand and Bihar by late night. Weather of Odisha, West Bengal, Kolkata and Northeast India will remain dry.

Lastly in South India, where scattered rains may continue over parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and North Tamil Nadu. Isolated rains are possible over northern districts of Telangana. Weather of Karnataka, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar and Kerala will remain almost dry. Light rains are possible in Chennai while weather of Hyderabad and Bengaluru will remain dry.
