Weather Forecast Jan 6: Rain and snow in J&K, Himachal, Uttarakhand, maximums to drop

The Western Disturbance has now moved eastwards and currently lies over Jammu and Kashmir. It’s induced Cyclonic Circulation lies over the lower levels of north-west Uttar Pradesh and it’s adjoining areas.

Rain and snow will continue with heavy falls at isolated places of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for 24 hours. Thereafter, activity will be on a receding note. Rain and thundershower activities will reduce over West Punjab and will continue over with good intensity over most parts of East Haryana, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh. The rain activity is expected to reduce by evening and will further cover more parts of Central Uttar Pradesh and will gradually head towards East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Strong gusty winds with hailstorms may occur at isolated places of Haryana adjoining East Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

Day temperatures will drop significantly over North and north-west plains of the country and isolated places may experience Cold Day conditions.

In East, dense fog is likely to reduce over Bihar and adjoining areas, leading to rise in minimums. Light rain is a chance in parts of West Bihar and parts of foothills. Dry weather over rest of the eastern states with mist and haze during morning hours.

In Northeast India, a Cyclonic Circulation lies over East Bangladesh and adjoining Meghalaya region. Thus, light rain in few parts of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim with moderate fog at many parts of the northeastern states can be witnessed.

In Central parts of the country, morning temperature will continue to remain above normal for coming 24 hours and will drop thereafter. Day will be mainly sunny over the region.

Down South, due to Cyclonic Storm, Pabuk’s movement close to Andaman Sea, rain and thunderstorm with heavy to very heavy spells is likely over northern parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Strong gusty winds reaching 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph is expected with very rough sea conditions. Thus, fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea till the morning of January 7.

Isolated places of Tamil Nadu may witness light rains. Fog may occur in few parts of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and it’s adjoining areas. Rest regions will remain dry with rise in morning temperatures.
