Weather Forecast Jan 18: Rain and snow to commence over Kashmir, Himachal by tomorrow

January 17, 2019 6:52 PM | Skymet Weather Team

To begin with North India, another Western Disturbance is all set to affect the Western Himalayas. Therefore, we expect another spell of rain and snow to commence over Jammu and Kashmir and parts of Himachal Pradesh by afternoon or evening of January 18. However, weather of Uttarakhand and northern plains will remain dry.

With this, winds over the plains would change, leading to marginal rise in minimums across the plains and settle between 1˚C and 6˚C. Moderate to dense fog may also occur over parts of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
Talking about Delhi pollution, we do not foresee any relief as air quality will remain in very poor to severe category.

Moving to Central India, an anti-cyclone lies over South Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat. Thus, dry weather will prevail over entire Central India. We do not expect much change in temperature profile also. However, day temperatures of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra may increase marginally and settle between 24˚C and 33˚C.

Meanwhile in east and Northeast India, we expect dry weather to prevail over most parts of the region. Minimums may increase marginally over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand and lie in the range of 8˚C to 11˚C. Moderate fog is also possible over East Uttar Pradesh and parts of Bihar.
