Weather Forecast Jan 17: Light rains over Kashmir, Himachal; rest parts of the country to remain dry

January 16, 2019 6:10 PM | Skymet Weather Team

After giving good rain and snow up in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand, the present Western Disturbance has now moved away. Now, a fresh Western Disturbance is over North Pakistan that will again start giving light to moderate rains January 18 onward. The weather activity is likely to peak by January 20.

Meanwhile, the weather over the plains will be dry with marginal rise in both day and night temperatures of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan. Moderate fog with dense fog at isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh can also be witnessed.

In Central India, the presence of northerly winds will bring down both day and night temperatures marginally over West Rajasthan and Gujarat. However, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra will not witness any major change in the temperatures on account of an Anti-Cyclone over Maharashtra. The weather will be dry and sunny over almost entire Central India.

Moving east, a trough is seen running from East Uttar Pradesh to West Bengal across Bihar and Jharkhand. We expect marginal rise in minimums over these areas. Easterly winds will continue to blow over Northeast India, but weather will be dry.

Moderate to shallow fog is possible over East Uttar Pradesh, parts of Bihar, Meghalaya and Tripura.

Down South, the night and morning temperatures over Interior parts of Karnataka, Telangana and Rayalaseema will be cool and comfortable because of the continuous flow of dry and cool northerly winds. Minimums are expected to remain below normal by one to two degrees. Coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu might witness partly cloudy sky.
