Weather Forecast Jan 14: Rain and snow in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to continue

January 13, 2019 6:44 PM | Skymet Weather Team

To begin with North India, the Western Disturbance now lies over East Jammu and Kashmir. It would be moving away further east/northeastwards. Due to remnants of this system, light rain and snow is expected in isolated places over the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. In wake of the above system, northwesterly air mass will prevail over the northern plains. Hence, minimums will decrease, and sky conditions will become mainly clear over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan. However, pollution levels over Delhi-NCR will remain poor.

Moving to South India, the cyclonic circulation over central parts of South Bay of Bengal, is moving west/northwestwards slowly. Due to this system, light rain and thundershower is likely over few parts of Coastal Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, dry weather will prevail over rest south peninsula.

Similarly, dry weather will continue over most parts of central India also except Northeast Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh. Due to the prevalence of northwestly winds, temperatures will decrease over west and central parts of Madhya Pradesh.

A trough is marked over East Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Southeast Uttar Pradesh in the lower levels. Due to this, very light rain is expected over isolated pockets of Northeast Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, North Chhattisgarh and Southeast Uttar Pradesh. Night temperatures will also increase marginally over the eastern states.

Further, due to the moving Western Disturbance across the higher latitudes, light rain and snow is expected over isolated places of Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. Rest all northeastern states will experience dry weather.
