Weather Forecast Jan 12: Avalanche and hailstorm alert along with rain and snow likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

Beginning with North India, where a Western Disturbance now lies over Afghanistan and adjoining areas. Its induced Cyclonic Circulation has formed South of the system. Thus, intermittent rain and snow is likely at many places over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Heavy rain are also forecast at one or two places. Hailstorm might also be seen at some southern places in Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, chances of Avalanche cannot be ruled out. Punjab, Rajasthan and adjoining Haryana might receive light rains accompanied with gusty winds. Temperatures will now rise over East Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Moderate fog may appear at some places.

Coming on to East and Northeast India, where dry weather is being forecast. Clear sky will prevail over most parts. Drop in temperatures is expected over Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and North Odisha. Dense fog might appear at some places. Similar weather is forecast for the northeastern states along with a possibility of a sunny sky.

Talking about Central India where a marginal drop in temperatures is likely to continue over Chhattisgarh while a rise is expected over Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and North Maharashtra. Clouding will increase over Kutch and adjoining Saurashtra. There are chances of light rain towards afternoon and evening. Strong winds will blow over Gujarat. Meanwhile, Mumbai might see light rains.

Lastly in South India, where light rains are possible over parts of South Andhra Pradesh and North Tamil Nadu coast. Dry weather will prevail over rest parts. Drop in temperatures will now cease. At the same time, a rise in temperatures is expected over most parts of South Peninsula. Kerala will remain very warm with a partly cloudy sky.
