The much awaited Ganesh Chaturthi festival is round the corner and seems like the 10-day long Ganeshotsav will begin on a rainy note in Maharashtra. Blame it on the well-marked low pressure area, which will move inland and lie over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh region on Wednesday.

The system will gradually move across Chhattisgarh, Telangana and reach up to coastal Maharashtra by September 19. During next 24 hours, widespread rainfall likely over Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Maharashtra and East Madhya Pradesh. Isolated places could receive heavy rainfall as well.

We can also see a trough extending from this system. Scattered rainfall likely along the trough line over Bihar, Jharkhand and East Uttar Pradesh.

Northeast India will continue to receive light to moderate rainfall.

The off shore trough will bring intense Monsoon activity over Coastal Karnataka, Konkan & Goa. But, Kerala will receive less rainfall.

Most parts of the Peninsular India are receiving good showers, barring Tamil Nadu.

Temperatures in the interiors of the state will settle in higher thirties. Even in the northern plains, expect maximums to remain 3 to 4 degrees above the normal average. Given the high humidity levels, weather will be quite hot and humid during the afternoon hours.
