Southwest Monsoon has been bringing vigorous rainfall over eastern part of India. Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal have received heavy showers.
This ongoing spell of rainfall could be attributed to the low pressure area which will lie over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh region. It will continue to move in a northwest direction. The associated upper air cyclonic circulation will continue to extend up to a great height. Widespread moderate rainfall will continue over Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and East Bihar.
Light to moderate showers are likely over rest of East India. Scattered light rains will occur over coastal Odisha, north Chhattisgarh and adjoining northeast Madhya Pradesh.
A trough will also be seen extending from the low pressure area along the Odisha coast. North Coastal Andhra Pradesh will some rainfall.
The axis of the Monsoon trough will continue to extend across the foothills of the Himalayas. While the eastern arm will move across Bahraich, Champaran, Giridih, the centre of the low pressure area, diamond harbor and finally towards northeast bay of Bengal.
Moderate to heavy showers are likely over Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. Scattered rains will be seen over rest of Northeast India.
We can see a trough over Jammu and Kashmir. Only the hilly areas of North India will receive scattered light rains. The northwestern plains will witness mainly dry weather conditions. Dry westerly winds will prevail over the region.
Central India will remain mainly dry. But we could expect isolated light rains in East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha. Scattered rains likely along the West Coast but rest of Peninsular India will receive subdued Monsoon rains.
