Weather Forecast for Sep 6: Monsoon rains in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal

September 5, 2016 5:50 PM |

The weather system over Bay of Bengal has intensified into a low pressure area and has moved inland. It is now present over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas.

The Eastern end of the Monsoon trough is passing through Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal and further towards the low pressure area. With this, moderate to heavy rains are expected over North Odisha, Jharkhand, East Bihar, West Bengal. Scattered rain activity will continue over South Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, northeastern states of India will receive light to moderate rainfall at many places. Few places could receive heavy showers as well.

The western end of the axis of the Monsoon trough is still running close to the foothills of Himalayas, giving scattered rains over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and foothills of Bihar.

Mainly dry and warm weather will prevail over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. Dry northwesterly winds blowing over the northern plains including Delhi-NCR will reduce the humidity levels. So, early morning and night hours will be quite pleasant but the weather will remain dry during daytime.

Down south, the off-shore trough from Maharashtra to Kerala has become insignificant. Therefore, we expect subdued rains to continue over Coastal Karnataka and Konkan and Goa. Kerala will remain dry during this period.
