Weather Forecast for Sep 5: Monsoon active in East India including West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand

September 4, 2016 3:12 PM | Skymet Weather Team

The weather system over Bay of Bengal has intensified into a low pressure area. It will gradually move inland, towards Gangetic West Bengal.

The western end of the axis of the Monsoon trough is still running close to the foothills. The Eastern end is passing through Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal and further towards the low pressure area. Therefore, we expect moderate to heavy rains over many parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand and East Bihar. Good showers will continue over Odisha and parts of Chhattisgarh as well.

Northeastern states of India will receive light to moderate rainfall at many places. Few places could receive heavy showers.

Monsoon will remain subdued over rest of the country. The trough extending from this system will bring light scattered rains over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of North Tamil Nadu.

The off-shore trough from Maharashtra to Kerala has weakened. Thus, intensity of rainfall will decrease along the West Coast.

Most parts of North and West India, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh will remain dry. Dry northwesterly winds blowing over the northern plains including Delhi-NCR will reduce the humidity levels.
