Weather Forecast for Sep 30: Withdrawal of Monsoon 2018 begins, heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, Kerala

Southwest Monsoon has finally begun with withdrawal journey from the western parts of the country. Although a delayed one but Monsoon has retreated itself from parts of Rajasthan and Kutch region of Gujarat on September 29.

The withdrawal line of Monsoon is presently passing through Anupgarh, Nagore, Jodhpur, Jallore, Nalia and Northeast Arabian Sea. In fact, a well-established anti-cyclone over Rajasthan and dry weather further indicates that conditions are ripe for withdrawal of Southwest monsoon from more parts of northwestern plains in the next 2-3 days.

Now talking about the weather conditions, dry and warm winds will continue to rise in temperatures across northwestern plains, particularly in Rajasthan and Gujarat. Similar, weather will be experienced in the central parts of the country.

Meanwhile, up in hills, a feeble western disturbance presently over Afghanistan and Pakistan will be soon affecting the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, bringing isolated light rains over the state. However, Major weather activity is seen in the Southern part of the country. A Cyclonic Circulation is lying over Sri Lanka and Southwest Bay of Bengal with a trough extending from this circulation across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka up till East-central Arabian Sea.

South peninsular India is very likely to experience widespread rainfall activity with heavy rains in interior parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep. The west coast will also experience some light to moderate rains in some parts of Konkan & Goa including Mumbai. Due to a downstream convergence, parts of Maharashtra, interior Telangana, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh will experience light rains.

Coming towards the eastern part of the country, a Cyclonic Circulation is seen over Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Thus, bringing in light to moderate rains in some parts of northeastern states, adjoining Sub Himalayan West Bengal Sikkim and the foothills of Bihar.
