Weather Forecast for Sep 29: Rains in Kerala, Telangana, Coastal AP; Monsoon withdrawal to begin soon

September 28, 2018 6:30 PM |

Withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon is just around the corner with winds changing their direction and formation of an anti-cyclone over parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat. As a result, humidity has reduced but day temperatures have risen.

The entire northwestern parts of the country will remain dry with bright sunshine but cool and comfortable nights. In fact, afternoon would be on warmer side. Similar weather conditions continue to prevail over central parts of the country including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and parts of Maharashtra.

A Cyclonic Circulation is seen off South Tamil Nadu coast and an east-west trough is seen extending to Arabian Sea. Another north-south trough is running till Konkan and Goa across Karnataka.

With this, the humid winds from Bay of Bengal are increasing over the region. Thus, light to moderate rains are expected over parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala. Whereas, one or two heavy spells are possible over interior parts of Tamil Nadu and South Karnataka. Mumbai might also see some lightning and thunderstorm.

Meanwhile, East India has been witnessing some rains although Monsoon remains subdued. For next 24 hours, isolated rains are likely over some parts of East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand, whereas light rains can be experienced over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.

However, scattered light to moderate rains are expected over Odisha. There's also an increase in rain over the northeastern states that would see light to moderate rains over eastern parts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur.
