Weather Forecast for Sep 27: Rain in Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata; Dry weather in Delhi, Mumbai

September 26, 2017 5:18 PM |

Rains have reduced significantly across the country barring northeast and south India due to the absence of any significant weather system. However, a feeble western disturbance can be seen over North Pakistan and the axis of Monsoon trough is running close to the foothills of Himalayas. As these systems are not much active, we expect mainly dry weather conditions over entire northwest India including the hills of western Himalayas. The dry westerly winds will also blow over the northern plains which will further reduce the humidity level.

Moving to East India, the eastern end of the axis of Monsoon trough is running across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal. Due to this weather system, we expect light rain over parts of Jharkhand and light to moderate showers over West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may receive few moderate to heavy spells. Coastal Odisha may also receive light to moderate rain at some places.

Down South, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over west central Bay of Bengal and a trough is running across North Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka up to, Southwest Arabian Sea. In wake of these weather systems, light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells are expected over Rayalaseema, North Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka and Coastal Karnataka. Few moderate intensity spells are also possible over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Konkan and Goa and Andaman and Nicobar islands. Meanwhile, Madhya Maharashtra and Kerala will receive light rain at a few places
