Weather Forecast for Sep 12: Monsoon Rain in Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Northeast India

Beginning with East & Northeast, the axis of Monsoon trough is running close to foothills of Uttar Pradesh through Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal 3ill keep the Monsoon active over the region. Therefore, light to moderate with one or two heavy spells are expected over Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Simultaneously, parts of Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal with Kolkata, Jharkhand and East Uttar Pradesh would record scattered light to moderate rains.

Southwesterly winds of moderate velocity are raising moisture level over northeastern states. As a result, moderate to heavy showers are likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.

Moving up North, the cyclonic circulation over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir and the Monsoon trough along the foothills of Himalayas would cause light to moderate rains over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while scattered light showers will be seen over Jammu and Kashmir, North Punjab and parts of West Uttar Pardesh. Meanwhile, Delhi, Haryana and East Punjab would remain more or less dry.

In Central India, light with one or two moderate rainy spells are possible over East Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh. Whereas West Madhya Pradesh, East Gujarat and East Rajasthan may see isolated rains.

Further in South, scattered light to moderate rains are expected over South Interior Karnataka including Bengaluru, parts of Tamil Nadu and Coastal Andhra Pradesh on account of the trough extending from South Interior Karnataka to South Tamil Nadu. Chennai would too stand a chance to see some light rains.
