Weather Forecast for Sep 1: Good monsoon rains likely over Delhi, Chennai, Dehradun

Up in North India a Western Disturbance is seen over eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. The axis of Monsoon trough is also running across Punjab, North Haryana, northern parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Therefore it is anticipated that light to moderate rains are likely over the western Himalayas and the northern plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and North Rajasthan. It is expected that Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh may also witness few heavy Monsoon spells.

Talking about East India, the eastern end of the axis of Monsoon trough is also shifting towards north therefore we expect good rains over east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and northeastern states. Scattered rain showers are also expected over Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and North Odisha.

In Central India, it is expected that rains will reduce significantly over most parts. However, light rains may occur over Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and southern parts of Rajasthan. Meanwhile, almost dry weather conditions are likely over West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Marathwada region.

Coming to South India, an off shore trough is seen extending along Konkan and Goa and Karnataka coast. Due to which scattered light to moderate rains are possible over the region. Interior Maharashtra is likely to remain mainly dry with isolated light rains. Mumbai may also observe light showers.

A Cyclonic Circulation is also seen over Comorian area and a trough is also seen along the East Coast. Due to these combined weather systems, we expect light to moderate showers over South Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Chennai may also witness moderate rains at some places. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and south Interior Karnataka may also receive scattered light rains. Meanwhile, weather in Telangana and Rayalseema will be dry.
