Northeast Monsoon is likely to be delayed further, in absence of any weather system in the Bay of Bengal.
The ongoing Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir is now clearing away. A fresh one seems to be approaching North India. It is presently marked over Afghanistan region and will start affecting the northern hills by 24th.
Widespread rain and snow are likely at many places, including Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Bhaderwa in Jammu and Kashmir. Himachal Pradesh is also going to witness rain and snow in places like Keylong and Kalpa.
Gradually the rain belt will spread over Punjab, Haryana and Delhi by the 25th and 26th of October. As of now, the plains will remain dry. Dry northwesterly winds will prevail over the area.
The anti-cyclone over Gujarat and adjoining areas will keep the weather dry over entire Central India.
Scattered rainfall likely over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Rest of East India will remain dry.
The cyclonic circulation over here will bring some light rainfall over the Northeastern states.
The cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep and adjoining areas will bring scattered light to moderate rainfall over Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Isolated rains are likely over Coastal Karnataka. Remaining parts of the South Peninsula will be dry.
In Jammu and Kashmir, maximum temperatures are crawling back to normal. In rest of the country temperatures will be near or slightly above normal.
