Weather Forecast for Oct 6: Heavy rain in Chennai, Kerala, Tamil Nadu; hot weather in Northwest India

The low-pressure area over Southeast Arabian Sea would gradually intensify into a Depression. A trough is also extending from this system to Southwest Bay of Bengal. Therefore, we expect more spells of moderate rains with few heavy to very heavy spells to continue over Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Places like Kozhikode, Alappuzha, Kollam, Ernakulum and Idukki may receive very heavy rains. Rains are expected to increase over Lakshadweep now, therefore heavy to very heavy rains are foreseen over these areas.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains are expected over South Karnataka including Bengaluru, Rayalaseema and isolated rains would be seen over parts of Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Heading towards Central India, scattered rains are possible over Madhya Maharashtra, while subdued rains will be seen over parts of Marathwada, Konkan & Goa. However, Gujarat and West Rajasthan will continue to battle hot weather with maximums crossing the mark of 40 degree- Celsius.

Talking about North India, a fresh Western Disturbance is seen over North Pakistan and adjoining parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Therefore, scattered rains are possible over Jammu and Kashmir and isolated places of Himachal Pradesh, leading to extremely pleasant weather conditions. Also, some thunder activity cannot be ruled out over isolated pockets of Delhi, North Rajasthan and parts of Haryana. Weather in rest parts of Punjab, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh will be dry and warm.

Meanwhile, East and Northeast India would continue to witness dry and warm weather conditions. Isolated rain and thundershower activities may occur over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and over parts of Assam.
