Weather Forecast for Oct 28: Northeast Monsoon makes onset; Rain in Kerala, Tamil Nadu

After a long wait, Northeast Monsoon has finally made an onset over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and adjoining areas of Andhra Pradesh as well as Karnataka today.

Down South, the cyclonic circulation persists over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka coast. A trough is also extending from southeast Arabian Sea to South Andaman Sea across the cyclonic circulation.

North easterly winds are strengthening gradually and present situation shows that Northeast Monsoon can commence anytime over Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh Coast. In wake of the above mentioned weather systems rainfall activity is likely to enhance significantly over Kerala.

Tamil Nadu will also witness good rain over most parts expect the interior parts of the state. Light rain, thundershowers along with gusty are expected over South Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Andhra Pradesh coast. Andaman and Nicobar Islands are also anticipated to witness heavy rain at some places.

Talking about East India, a cyclonic circulation can be marked over Bangladesh and Tripura. Mainly easterly and north easterly winds are prevailing. It is expected that fog will continue to occur at some places over North of East Uttar Pradesh adjoining Bihar, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Nagaland, Assam and Meghalaya.

Dry weather is likely to prevail over almost all parts of Northeast India but isolated pockets of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may receive light rain.

In central India, dry weather is likely to prevail over Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, extreme south of Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining coastal regions may witness light rain and thundershower activity.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

In North India, a cyclonic circulation persist over Central Pakistan and adjoining North Rajasthan and another cyclonic circulation can be seen over southwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Rajasthan in the lower levels. Mainly dry weather is likely to prevail over entire northwestern plains. Marginal drop in morning and night temperatures is likely over southern parts of Haryana, adjoining Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Northeast Rajasthan.

Pollution and haziness levels will also increase over the cities such as Delhi, Panipat, Sonipat, Agra and Alwar.
