In South India, after continuous spell of rainy days, rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and parts of Karnataka are now set to reduce. However, humid winds and feeble weather systems may give light rain in few parts of Tamil Nadu and isolated pockets of Kerala and South Karnataka.

The reason would be a trough running from Konkan up to Coastal Karnataka and a cyclonic circulation over Southwest Bay of Bengal off Tamil Nadu Coast. Light to moderate rain is also expected in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Meanwhile, the weather in North Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will remain dry.

Up in North, winter has finally set in the hills of North India. Both maximum and minimum temperatures have dropped significantly across Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. In fact, night temperatures are settling beyond the freezing point at some pockets.

Passage of Western Disturbance have increased and presently a fresh Disturbance is seen over North Pakistan, which might give isolated light rain in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

While Uttarakhand and the northwestern plains would have bright sunny and dry days with haze and mist in parts of Punjab and Haryana.

The air quality in Delhi-NCR would remain under the ‘poor’ category, so residents stay vigilant.

Moving to Central parts, isolated light rain is expected in West Rajasthan but that would not bring any difference to the soaring temperatures over the region. Rajasthan and parts of Kutch in Gujarat would continue to settle around 37-38°C.

Finally in East and Northeast India, only isolated light rain is likely in parts of Meghalaya and Mizoram. Otherwise the weather in the eastern and remaining northeastern states will remain dry.
