Weather Forecast for Oct 24: Depression in Bay of Bengal to intensify, season's first cyclone soon

The depression in east-central Bay of Bengal has moved in an east-northeast direction with a speed of 11 kmph.

Today around 8:30 am, the depression was seen about 420 km north of Port Blair and 360 km west-southwest of Yangon in Myanmar.

This system is expected to intensify into a deep depression by Sunday night and further into a cyclone. By today late evening or night, it is likely to reach North Myanmar coast.

Under the influence of this system, moderate to heavy rains are expected over northern parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Another cyclonic circulation is seen over Arabian Sea near Lakshadweep region which will give scattered rains over Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The rest parts of south peninsula will remain dry; however scattered clouds will be seen along the east coast.

Up in North India, the Western Disturbance over Northeast Jammu and Kashmir is moving away. With this, dry and cool northwesterly winds will continue to blow over the hilly states, northwest plains and Central India.

In East and Northeast India, dry weather conditions will continue.
