The cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal, is now marked over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal. A north-south trough is also extending from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal up to North Tamil Nadu across the circulation. With this, we can expect heavy to extremely heavy rains to continue over Assam and Meghalaya, while moderate to heavy rains are likely over rest of Northeast India, Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.
With the eastward movement of this system, intensity of rains will reduce significantly over East India but scattered rains will continue over Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata, East Bihar, parts of Jharkhand and North Odisha.
Down south, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu including Chennai will also receive scattered light rains. Meanwhile, another cyclonic circulation over Karnataka coast also continues to persist. With this, good rains will continue over South Konkan and Goa, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka.
Up in Northwest India, the region will continue with dry weather conditions. Dry northwesterly winds over the region have already dropped both the maximum and minimum temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees and we can expect further drop in coming days. As a result, we can now expect pleasant nights and comfortable days over the northwestern plains.
