Northeast Monsoon has taken a backseat over Peninsular India, with rainfall reducing significantly over the region.
The weather system in Arabian Sea has shifted further westwards and a trough from this has also weakened. As a result, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu including Chennai will remain mainly dry on Friday. However light showers cannot be ruled out in coastal areas.
Meanwhile, a fresh cyclonic circulation is seen in South Andaman Sea which is likely to intensify into low pressure anytime now. At present, it is away from the Indian coast to affect the weather but it will start impacting the weather over Tamil Nadu Saturday onwards.
Moving in the northern parts, a feeble Western Disturbance is moving across Jammu and Kashmir. With this, isolated rain and snow are likely over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on Friday. While lower regions will only have cloudy sky.
An induced cyclonic circulation is also seen over Rajasthan and adjoining areas. This is influencing the wind pattern over Northwest India, arresting the fall of minimum temperatures across the region on Friday.
With winters approaching, fog has also started making its appearance. Shallow fog can be witnessed during early morning hours over few parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Northeast India will continue with moderate fog.
Meanwhile, Central and East India will enjoy pleasant weather conditions on Friday.
