Flood waters had just started receding when Chennai was once again lashed by heavy showers on Thursday. On and off rainfall will continue in the capital city till November 21. Few places may receive good rain and thundershowers. Intensity of rainfall is expected to gain further strength on 22nd and 23rd. This could be attributed to the easterly wave.
A low pressure area has developed over Lakshadweep and adjoining areas. It is expected to intensify further into a well-marked low by Saturday. Its impact in terms of rainfall will be confined to Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra for next 24 hours. Thereafter, the system will move in a northwest direction away from the Indian region.
At present, the easterly wave is dominant over the East Coast. During the coming weekend we can expect fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and interiors of Karnataka.
Moderate fog is expected over entire Indo-Gangetic plains during the early morning hours.
The cyclonic circulation over Nagaland and adjoining areas has become less marked. This system will now bring only isolated light rainfall.
Dry northwesterly winds will continue to blow over the Indo-Gangetic plains. Both maximum and minimum temperatures will remain near normal levels in North India. Temperatures are likely to drop after the 23rd.
