November 19, 2015 6:41 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Incessant rainfall in Chennai has resulted in submerging of roads, disrupting rail and road traffic. Intensity of rainfall has now reduced significantly but people here are still being affected by the after effects of torrential rain.

The cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep and adjoining areas could lead to the formation of a low pressure area by November 20th.

The low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal has become less marked. It is now lying as an upper air cyclonic circulation. A trough can be seen extending from this system up to Lakshadweep region. This system will bring fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Kerala and Coastal Karnataka. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu will also receive good rainfall on Friday.

We can see a cyclonic circulation over Nagaland, Manipur and adjoining areas. This system will bring only scattered light rainfall as moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal will be limited.

The Western Disturbance over Afghanistan will start affecting weather in the western Himalayas the 22nd of November. Even then, rainfall will be confined to the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir.

Cool and dry northwesterly winds are blowing over entire Northwest plains and Central India. Accordingly, we can expect both maximum and minimum temperatures to witness further drop. Minimums have already come down to single digit in Punjab and Haryana. In Delhi night temperatures will remain around 11°C.
