Northeast Monsoon fury continues in Tamil Nadu including Chennai. Heavy rains have been pounding over various parts of the state. All thanks to the well-marked low pressure area lying over coastal parts of Tamil Nadu. We have to wait and watch if this weather system intensifies into a depression or not. Incessant rains have flooded the popular Marina beach in Chennai. The death toll from rain-related incidents has crossed half a century in Tamil Nadu.
North Tamil Nadu will continue to receive moderate to heavy showers till Tuesday. Thereafter, the intensity of rainfall will decrease. But, we cannot rule out moderate showers over North Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and interiors of Karnataka. Telangana will also receive some good showers.
The anti-cyclone over Gujarat will keep the weather dry over this region. You can expect bright sunny afternoon hours over the weekend.
We can see a feeble trough running West Assam to North Bay of Bengal. This could bring light rainfall over Northeastern states.
A Western Disturbance over North Pakistan and adjoining areas will move in Northeast direction. But, we do not expect any rain in India. Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh will witness partly cloudy weather conditions.
Cold and dry northwesterly winds will gain momentum and lead to decrease in minimum temperatures over the northwestern plains. Marginal drop in maximums are also likely Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh.
