Chennai has been receiving a lot of rainfall for the last couple of days. Several low lying areas in the city have been inundated. On Friday morning, twenty six flights from Chennai were running behind schedule. In fact the entire state of Tamil Nadu, specially the coastal areas, will continue to receive good showers till about 16th of November. Isolated pockets could receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. Coastal areas of Kerala and Karnataka could also receive some light showers. Blame it on the cyclonic circulation over Southwest Bay of Bengal. By Saturday, it could intensify into a Low Pressure Area.
The existing low pressure area over the Arabian Sea has drifted further away from the mainland of India.
The anti-cyclone over Gujarat will keep the weather dry over this region. You can expect bright sunny afternoon hours over the weekend. East and Northeast India will remain mainly dry.
The existing Western Disturbance is moving away. Remnants of the system could still bring some rainfall over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
Minimums are still in double digits over Delhi, Amritsar, Ludhiana and rest of North Indian plains. But, you can definitely feel the winter chill at night. Day temperatures over the area are hovering around 28°C.
