Let’s begin with the latest news of the thick layer of smog that has been enveloping Delhi NCR for the last two consecutive days. The air quality over national capital has worsened further, with visibility over Delhi dropping to nil at several places even during the peak afternoon hours.
Further, we would like to warn our viewers that there is no respite from this deadly smog for the next 24 to 48 hours as well.
According to weathermen, light and calm northwesterly winds will continue to prevail over entire northwestern plains. With this, no letup of smog is likely from Delhi-NCR.

Meanwhile, we can expect dense fog to persist in most places of Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan.
A Western Disturbance is seen over North of Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining area. Partly cloudy sky will persist over this region and nearby areas but weather conditions will be mainly dry.
Moving down South, the low pressure area is now seen over south-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea. A trough is extending from this system up to Southeast Arabian Sea.
Thus, heavy rains are likely in parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, while light to moderate showers are possible over Kerala, Lakshadweep region and parts of South Tamil Nadu. There are also possibilities of light s over South Karnataka and adjoining Rayalaseema.
Chennai rains have now taken back seat but we can expect few light showers over the city.
Live status of Lightning and thunder
Coming to East and Northeast region, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh. However, no major weather change is anticipated and dry weather will continue over both the regions. Isolated shallow fog is also possible over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Rest of Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh will see moderate to dense fog.
In Central India, the region will continue to witness dry and comfortable weather. For now, no significant change is likely in maximum and minimums over the region.
