November 1, 2018 6:34 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Beginning with the happy news, Northeast Monsoon has finally made an onset over Peninsular India. With this, good rains have commenced over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and parts of South Interior Karnataka.

We now expect rains to further increase over the region. A Cyclonic Circulation is over Southwest Bay of Bengal and a trough is extending from this system up till North Bay of Bengal along the east coast of the country. One more trough is seen running between Lakshadweep Islands and Southeast Bay of Bengal through this circulation.

During the next 24 hours, light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells are likely over Tamil Nadu and South Kerala. Meanwhile, light to moderate rains are possible over Andhra Pradesh, whereas South Interior Karnataka and Telangana might witness light rains.

Talking about East and Northeast region, this trough would give isolated light rain over coastal Odisha, Mizoram and Tripura. However, weather over rest of the region would remain dry and warm.

Moving to Central India, easterly winds from Bay of Bengal would be reaching Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. We can expect light rain over South Konkan and Goa and South Madhya Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, an Anti-Cyclone over Southwest Rajasthan would keep the weather dry and warm over Gujarat, Rajasthan and most parts of Madhya Pradesh.

Up in North, after the exit of the Western Disturbance, another fresh Disturbance is seen over Pakistan and adjoining areas, while its induced Cyclonic Circulation is over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab.

Thus, we can expect rain and thundershowers along with snowfall over many parts of Jammu and Kashmir and over pockets of Himachal Pradesh. Isolated rains could also be seen over parts of Uttarakhand and North Punjab.
