The Deep Depression which was earlier over Southeast Arabian Sea has now moved further westwards and has strengthened into a Cyclonic Storm. The system has crossed Lakshadweep region and is presently lying west of Lakshadweep around 200 kms.

Another Cyclonic Circulation which was over equator and southeast Bay of Bengal has now become more marked and is situated at southcentral Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka coast. This is likely to turn into a low-pressure area shortly. It will then move further west north-west direction.

Due to the prevalence of these two systems, most parts of South Karnataka, Kerala and West Tamil Nadu will receive moderate to isolated heavy rains including parts of Andaman Sea. Rest parts of North Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, South Telangana and Tamil Nadu will receive scattered thundershowers. Situation is expected to improve over Lakshadweep region, but moderate rain and thundershowers would continue. Gusty winds will continue to blow along the coastal areas.

Heading to East and Northeast India, Arunachal Pradesh, East Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland might witness light scattered rains. Rest northeastern and eastern states of the country would continue to experience dry weather.

In the past 24 hours, in Central India, Vidarbha observed a drop in night temperatures but again moist flow of winds from Arabian Sea will increase the night temperatures. Rise in night temperatures is expected in parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh as well.

Up in North, isolated light rain or snowfall activities are possible in the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir. Rest regions to remain dry. In the northwestern plains of the country, night temperatures are likely to increase over Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. The night temperatures of North Haryana and Delhi will remain steady for coming 24 hours. Post that, they are expected to rise. Dry weather will continue to prevail with few clouds in offing. The light and south-westerly winds blowing from Rajasthan have brought down the pollution levels marginally.
