November 16, 2018 7:54 PM | Skymet Weather Team

After giving good rains over Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Cyclone Gaja has now weakened into a Depression and now lies over Southeast Arabian Sea near Lakshadweep.

We expect rains to reduce over Tamil Nadu and Kerala. However, light scattered rains with one or two moderate spells are possible over Kerala, and light rains may occur over Tamil Nadu, Coastal Karnataka and Rayalaseema. South Interior Karnataka may also receive isolated light rain but now rains will increase over Lakshadweep Area.

Thus, moderate showers with one or two heavy spells are expected over the region. Another Cyclonic Circulation has developed over Southeast Bay of Bengal. It will gradually move towards Tamil Nadu Coast.

In Central India, an Anti-Cyclone is over North Madhya Maharashtra thus dry weather would continue to prevail. Now north westerly winds are blowing over Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Thus, we can expect marginal drop in temperatures of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha.

Up in North, the Western Disturbance has moved away, thus we expect dry weather to prevail over entire hilly regions including Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Now due to moderate winds from northwest direction blowing over northern plains, drop of 2-3 degree-Celsius is expected in minimums particularly in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan in coming 48 hours. Post that, winds will once again become light leading to marginal increase in temperatures. We see a significant relief in Delhi Pollution because of the prevalent north-westerlies.

In East and North East India, light to moderate rains can be witnessed in isolated pockets of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya. Dry weather would continue to prevail over rest of east and north east India. However, night temperatures may drop marginally over parts of East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand.
