Beginning with Cyclone Gaja, the severe cyclonic storm presently over Southwest Bay of Bengal is all set to cross Tamil Nadu coast between Cuddalore and Nagapattinam by November 15. However, as it nears the coast, Gaja would start weakening on account low sea surface temperatures and high vertical wind shear. Thus, there are fair chances that Gaja may hit the coast as a cyclone or even as a deep depression.
Talking about rainfall, heavy to very heavy rains and thundershowers would lash South coastal Tamil Nadu along with strong winds to the tune of 80-90 kmph. However, light to moderate rains are expected over rest of Tamil Nadu.
Chennai would also settle with light to moderate showers only, though isolated pockets might see short spells of intense showers, but any significant heavy rains are ruled out. Gaja might also bring rains of varying intensity over parts of Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Interior Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next 24 hours.
However Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka and Telangana will continue to remain dry.
Moving to North India, the prevailing Western Disturbance is moving away eastwards, therefore we expect rain and snow activities to now reduce over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Whereas, light scattered rain may continue over some parts of these states. North Punjab might also witness isolated light rains.

Meanwhile, northern plains will remain dry with marginal fall in night temperatures. About pollution, recent rains over Delhi-NCR has finally brought marginal relief in pollution but air quality is once again expected to deteriorate over many parts.
In Central India, states would continue to witness dry and warm weather. Minimum temperatures are expected to fall marginally over parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. In East and Northeast India, weather over the region would remain mainly dry barring isolated light rains over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.
