Weather Forecast for May 30: Monsoon like rain in Kerala, Karnataka; heatwave in Telangana

Fairly widespread rain and thundershowers have been lashing Kerala and Coastal Karnataka for the last few days. Looks like Monsoon is not far behind. In fact, the rainfall criteria have been met for onset of Monsoon 2016.

A western Disturbance is affecting parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It will continue to bring pre-Monsoon rains over the region.

A trough from the induced cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab can be seen extending upto Gangetic West Bengal across the cyclonic circulation over central Uttar Pradesh. Fairly widespread rain and thundershowers are likely over the northwest plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and many parts of Uttar Pradesh. The intensity of rain will be more along the foothills of the Himalayas, including Bihar, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

The cyclonic circulation over here will continue to bring scattered light to moderate rains over Assam and Meghalaya.

A trough extends from West Bengal upto south Odisha will bring scattered rain and thundershowers over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Further south, moderate westerly winds from the Arabian Sea and a feeble trough along the coast will continue to bring good rainfall activities over Kerala and Coastal Karnataka. The interiors will receive scattered rains only.

Heatwave has abated from most parts of the country except for isolated places in Telangana and Vidarbha.
