Weather Forecast for May 29: Monsoon onset in Kerala to give rain in Karnataka, TN; Thunderstorm in Delhi

May 28, 2018 7:23 PM |

As predicted by Skymet Weather, Southwest Monsoon has made an early onset over the state of Kerala. Moreover, conditions have been favorable for its further advancement covering some more parts of Kerala; Tamil Nadu; more parts of Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours.

Coming back to the weather conditions across India, let’s start with Southern Peninsula, the well-marked low pressure area over Southeast Arabian Sea off North Kerala and adjoining Karnataka Coast persists. Due to this, we can expect moderate to heavy rains over Kerala and Coastal Karnataka. Besides this, sea conditions would be rough along the coastline of Kerala, Karnataka and Konkan and Goa.

Further, light to moderate rainfall is also likely over Tamil Nadu and isolated pockets of Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Moving to East and Northeast India’s weather, a trough is extending from East Uttar Pradesh up to Tripura, so we can expect good rains to continue over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and parts of Assam. However, the intensity of rain is most expected to reduce over the remaining northeastern states. Further, isolated rain may occur over East Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha.

Coming to Central India, heatwave conditions will persist over parts of Vidarbha, many parts of Madhya Pradesh and isolated pockets of Rajasthan. While, light rain is likely over South Madhya Maharashtra, South Konkan and Goa and at one or two places over Vidarbha.

Up in North India, a feeble Western Disturbance can be seen over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. Its induced cyclonic circulation is over Central Pakistan. Thus, we expect isolated rains over Jammu and Kashmir, while the weather of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and the northwestern plains would remain dry and hot.

Another cyclonic circulation can be seen over Southwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining region. This system is attracting humid easterlies from Bay of Bengal. Thus, with the combined effect of this, isolated thunderstorm cannot be ruled out over Haryana, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh.
