With Monsoon 2016 knocking doors, Kerala continues to witness fairly widespread rainfall. As reiterated by Skymet Weather, rains will also continue over parts of Lakshadweep Islands, Coastal Karnataka, even extending up to Konkan & Goa including Mumbai on Saturday. However intensity of rain will be more over Kerala. All these conditions are favourable for the onset of Monsoon in the next couple of days.
Meanwhile, Coastal Andhra Pradesh is reeling under extremely high day temperatures along with high humidity amounting to severe heatwave conditions. Now with Monsoon current gaining strength, cool southwesterly winds from ocean will start blowing over the region, bringing much relief from scorching heat on Saturday.
Moving on to North India, the approaching Western Disturbance is prevailing over North Afghanistan. While it’s induced cyclonic circulation is over Punjab and adjoining Pakistan. Another cyclonic circulation is seen over Gangetic West Bengal. And a trough is seen running between these two systems across the Indo-Gangetic plains. With this, we can expect isolated light rain and thunderstorm or dust storm activities on Saturday over parts of North Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
While, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal including Kolkata could see some scattered rain and thundershowers. Another trough is running from this circulation up to North Coastal Andhra Pradesh across Odisha. Accordingly, we can also expect light rain and thundershowers all along the trough line including parts of Chhattisgarh.
Meanwhile, Northeast India will also continue with light to moderate rain and thundershowers, with isolated heavy spell.
All these activities will keep the temperature under check over Central and West India but seasonal hot day conditions will prevail over Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
