Weather Forecast for May 2: Dust storm, Rains in Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, North Rajasthan

A fresh Western Disturbance is over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir, and an induced cyclonic circulation is over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan. Along with this, a trough from this system is extending up to East Uttar Pradesh. In wake of all these systems, we expect light to moderate rain and thundershowers to commence over the Western Himalayas from evening of May 2. Dust storm and thundershower activities are also expected over Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh. Delhi will witness a hot day with partly cloudy sky, with chances of thunderstorm and lightning.

Moving to the weather in East and Northeast India – a trough is seen extending from Uttar Pradesh to Mizoram across Jharkhand and West Bengal. Therefore, we expect moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers with strong winds to continue over West Bengal and Odisha along with few places of East Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. Bihar may also receive light rain. Light to moderate rains are also expected over Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura whereas Nagaland, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh will receive light rains. A cloudy sky with rain and thundershower activities is likely over Kolkata.

Further in Central India – hot winds from Pakistan are reaching Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and parts of Chhattisgarh. Due to these winds, heatwave conditions are expected to continue at many places of Rajasthan, Vidarbha and parts of Madhya Pradesh. Isolated thunderstorm or rains may occur over Chhattisgarh. Mumbai is expected to see a warm and humid day. Meanwhile, Chennai will observe a sultry afternoon and warm night.

Lastly in South India – a trough is extending from North Chhattisgarh to Interior Tamil Nadu across Telangana and Karnataka. Therefore, light to moderate rains will continue over Interior Tamil Nadu, South Karnataka and Kerala. Coastal Andhra Pradesh may receive few good spells of thundershower. Isolated thunderstorm may occur over Rayalaseema and Telangana. A hot day with partly cloudy sky will prevail over Hyderabad. Bengaluru will observe a warm day and pleasant night along with chances of thundershowers.
