The next 48 hours will be crucial for North and Coastal parts of Tamil Nadu. Heavy rainfall in Chennai, Puducherry, Cuddalore and Nagapattinam could lead to inundation and flooding. Chennai will be at risk of flood-like situation. Thereafter, it will skirt away and move along the East Coast in a North-Northwest direction. High velocity winds combined with torrential rains will be quite damaging for Chennai and adjoining cities. It is advised not to venture into the sea. In fact, people should move to safer places. By tomorrow, South Coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh will also receive very heavy rainfall. While Kerala, Telangana and Karnataka will receive light to moderate rains. After turning into a deep depression, it will skirt away and move along the East Coast in a North-Northwest direction.
We can see a cyclonic circulation over East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas. The trough extending from this system is moving across East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada and up to North Interior Karnataka. Only isolated rains likely along the trough-line.
Moisture incursion from Bay of Bengal will continue to widespread rainfall in Northeast India. Isolated heavy falls cannot be ruled out.
In Northern parts of the country, we can see a cyclonic circulation. It will bring only dust storm activities over Punjab, Haryana and Delhi-NCR.
The weather system in the Bay of Bengal is dominating weather activities across the country. Therefore, Pre-Monsoon activities will remain subdued in the entire country except for Peninsular India.
Heatwave conditions will continue to prevail over Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan. Above normal temperatures likely in Gujarat, Vidarbha, Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra.
