Weather Forecast for May 17: Monsoon likely to make onset over Kerala on May 29

After its early onset, Monsoon has now covered the entire Andaman and Nicobar Islands don May 16. Moving further, as per Skymet Weather, Monsoon 2017 is likely to make an onset over Kerala around May 29 with an error margin of plus minus 3 days

A Western Disturbance is over Jammu and Kashmir. Good rains are likely over Jammu and Kashmir with scattered showers over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

An induced cyclonic circulation is over Pakistan and adjoining Punjab which will give scattered rains over Punjab and isolated dust storm over Haryana, Rajasthan. Delhi may also receive thunderstorms and thundershowers at a few places. Also, Heatwave has abated from Northwest India, marginal relief will continue due to the likely weather activity.

Coming to East, cyclonic circulation is over eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh. A trough is also extending from this system up to Gangetic West Bengal. We expect isolated rains over foothills of east Uttar Pradesh and at many places of eastern parts of Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Northeast India.

Scattered rains are also likely over East Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata and Odisha.

Coming to Central India, dry and hot weather will persist over central parts including Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. But, Vidarbha may get isolated rains due to a trough persisting over the region.

Down South, a trough is extending from Coastal Andhra Pradesh to Interior Tamil Nadu. A cyclonic circulation also persists over South Interior Karnataka. Thus, good rains are likely over South Karnataka and Interior Tamil Nadu along with parts of Kerala. Chennai may receive light rains with Bengaluru recording a few good spells of rainfall.
