Weather Forecast for May 16: Monsoon 2017 to cover Andaman; Rain in Bengaluru, Kolkata

Southwest Monsoon has already reached the Nicobar Islands and is likely to advance further and cover the entire Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next 24 to 48 hours.

The cyclonic circulation is currently over northern parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands which will give moderate to heavy rains over the region. Sea conditions are likely to be rough.

Now let us take a look at the weather conditions prevailing across the country.

The Western Disturbance is over Jammu and Kashmir due to which scattered rains are likely over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

A cyclonic circulation also persists over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab and Haryana. A trough is also seen running from Central Pak to South Pakistan.

Due to this, rain and thundershowers with isolated dust storm are expected over Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, Delhi-NCR.

Coming to East and Northeast India, another cyclonic circulation is over Uttar Pradesh, a trough is also extending from this system up to Gangetic West Bengal across Bihar and Jharkhand
Due to this, Isolated rains over foothills of Uttar Pradesh, East Bihar, and Odisha. Scattered rains are likely over West Bengal including Kolkata and Northeast India

Coming to Central India, heatwave will persist over parts of Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh. However, due to the persisting trough, scattered rains are likely over the Madhya Maharashtra.

Down south, a trough is seen from Odisha to Coastal Andhra Pradesh. With this, isolated rains are likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh

Another trough can be seen from Madhya Maharashtra up to North Kerala. Scattered rains are likely over Karnataka and Kerala. Bengaluru and Interior Tamil Nadu may also receive light rain.
