Weather Forecast for May 15: Low pressure area likely in Bay of Bengal, rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala

The cyclonic circulation in Southwest Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lanka coast has become more marked and is likely to intensify into well-marked low pressure area anytime now. With this, we can expect light to moderate showers over South Coastal Tamil Nadu and Kerala on Sunday. Light showers are also likely over South Interior Karnataka including Bangalore.

This has also increased the moisture over Northeast region due to which northeastern states will continue with good rain and thundershowers. In East India, we can see a trough extending from East Uttar Pradesh up to Rayalaseema across East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Telangana. Accordingly we can expect isolated rain all along the well-marked trough line also including Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. Another east-west trough is seen from North Bihar to northeastern states, which will give light rain over North Bihar and West Bengal.

Meanwhile in North India, a fresh Western Disturbance is marked over North Pakistan and adjoining areas. With this, Jammu and Kashmir may see scattered rain and thundershowers, while Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will continue with isolated rain. Northwestern plains will continue with sunny and dry weather with marginal rise in day temperatures.

Now, heatwave conditions have also made a comeback over the several parts of northwestern plains and Central India along with isolated parts Telangana. Parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh will reel under extreme hot weather conditions on Sundays.
