Weather Forecast for May 13: Dust storm, thundershowers at many places over Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh

Beginning with the weather over North India an active Western Disturbance is seen over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. Therefore, scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers with isolated squall and hailstorm are expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and few places of Uttarakhand. The higher reaches of these states may also receive light snowfall.

An induced cyclonic circulation lies over Haryana and adjoining Punjab. A trough is also seen extending from Haryana to Nagaland. Therefore, dust storm and thundershowers are expected at many places over Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and few parts of North Rajasthan. Isolated heatwave condition may prevail over Rajasthan.

Moving to the weather in East and Northeast India as the cyclonic circulation lies over East Assam, moderate rainfall activities are likely to continue over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoran and Tripura. Whereas, Meghalaya and Assam may also receive light rain and thundershower activity. Rain and thundershowers with squall and lightning activity are expected over many parts of Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar.

Further in Central India heatwave conditions are likely to prevail over West Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha and may also develop over Marathwada and Kutch. Chances of dust storm and thundershowers are likely over Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, South Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining Konkan.

Lastly in South India a trough is seen extending from Central India to Rayalaseema and a cyclonic circulation is seen over Comorin and adjoining Tamil Nadu. Therefore, scattered light to moderate rains may occur over Kerala, South Karnataka and adjoining West Tamil Nadu. Rain and thundershowers may occur at few places over rest of the South Peninsula.
