Weather Forecast for May 13: Countdown for Monsoon begins; rain in Bengaluru, Kerala

The race for Southwest Monsoon has already begun. Weather conditions are becoming favourable for the arrival of Southwest Monsoon. Presently, a cyclonic circulation has developed over South Andaman Sea which is likely to be responsible for the onset of Monsoon over Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the coming days.

The Western Disturbance is currently marked over Jammu and Kashmir region. With this, light rain is expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Delhi and other parts of North West India will remain hot and dry as dry winds from the northwest will blow over the region.

East and Northeast India, a trough is extending along the foothills of Uttar Pradesh. Along with this, a cyclonic circulation also persists over the Bihar region. Thus, scattered rains are expected over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, and Meghalaya. Odisha may also receive isolated rains.

Coming to Central India, temperatures are expected to witness a marginal rise. Mumbai is also expected to remain hot and dry. However, due to the trough running up to North Konkan Goa across Maharashtra, isolated rains are expected over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Madhya Maharashtra.

Down South, a trough is extending from Andhra Pradesh to Interior Tamil Nadu. With this, scattered rains are expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and isolated pockets of Telangana. Good rains may occur over Kerala, Interior Karnataka along with light rains over Bengaluru. Interior Tamil Nadu may also witness scattered light rains.
