March 8, 2016 7:03 PM |

Tomorrow we are going to witness minimal weather activity. But, a prolonged spell of rain and hail storm is approaching the entire country, beginning with North and West India and gradually covering East, Central and the Southern Peninsula.

It’s a time for cessation of winter rains but North India continues to receive good showers. In fact, the last spell of rain was considered to be the best this winter season.

Another fresh Western Disturbance is approaching North India. It will start affecting the region from 10th of March.

The cyclonic circulation over Northeast India will not do much. It will bring only isolated light rains.

Rainfall has reduced completely in Central India as well. A trough can be seen extending from West Bengal to Vidarbha but it’s in the weakening mode.

The trough along the West Coast persists. It will bring isolated light rainfall activity along the coastal areas of Kerala and Karnataka.

We have entered the second week of March but a little unusual trend is being observed. North India should have been less active in terms of rainfall. The coming spell of rain seems to be more intense than the previous one.

Significant amounts of rainfall will be observed on March 12 and 13 across Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The rain belt will extend up to Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar. The weather systems will lash in a big way and their influence will reach Telangana, Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka.

We can expect a little rise in temperatures over the hills as well as plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh.

Maximums in the northern plains and East India will be in lower-thirties. Little rise in temperatures likely over Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Mumbai will receive warms winds from the land during the afternoon hours, leading to rise in maximums. The city will cool down as soon as the see breeze sets in by evening. Nagpur, Pune and other places in Madhya Maharashtra will be hot and humid.

Mumbai at present is quite hot and humid with maximum and minimum at 35 and 22°C respectively.
