Weather Forecast for March 5: Light rain in Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata

March 4, 2017 8:30 PM |

The trough continues to persist along South Tamil Nadu off the Sri Lanka coast, which is strengthening the easterly winds over the region. As a result, we can expect scattered rains over several parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and South interior Karnataka. Chennai and Bangalore are also likely to witness light rains on Sunday, intensifying further in the next 24 hours.

Rains may spare the second day of the ongoing cricket test match between India and Australia on Sunday but we need to look out for third day wherein may play a spoil sport.

Meanwhile, another trough has developed from Southwest Arabian Sea up to Odisha across Karnataka, a cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha and Telangana and Chhattisgarh. All these weather systems combined together are likely to bring rains over Odisha, Chhattisgarh and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Moving into eastern parts of the country, a trough is seen extending from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal up to North Bay of Bengal across West Bengal. With this, light to moderate rains are likely over entire northeastern states. Isolated thundershowers are also expected over Kolkata and nearby areas.

Meanwhile, after the passage of Western Disturbance from Western Himalayas, mainly dry weather will prevail over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand but one or two isolated showers cannot be ruled out.

Similarly, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh will witness clear and warm weather, with no major change in the temperatures.
